LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE
DISTRICT (LMD)
Reassessment Process
Begins
By Dennis Albright,
Headlands Development Rep.
This is an update
to previous articles describing the Glen Cove 3 LMD (Landscape Maintenance
District) reassessment process that will result in a vote by residents for a
modest increase in our annual assessment in order to maintain and possibly
expand our current high level of service.
The City of Vallejo which manages our
LMD operation has begun community outreach efforts to communicate with
residents regarding the objectives and details of the reassessment process, the
first of which began at the G.C.C.A. (Glen Cove Community Association) Glen Cove Community Fair event held
Saturday, May 17th, at the Glen Cove Elementary School.
Vallejo’s Assistant Maintenance Superintendent
Joe Bates manned a table at the neighborhood event at which he held discussions
with numerous residents, sought their opinions regarding additional services
desired and provided informational handouts describing the process. Input from residents was positive regarding
the addition of city tree maintenance and rehabilitation of several common area
sections that have not yet been addressed.
(City trees are located in most of our front yards near the public
sidewalks. The City is responsible to
trim and replace them were deemed appropriate, although budget constraints have
all but curtailed such efforts in recent years.)
It is important to remember that our LMD
budget is in no way connected to the City of Vallejo’s general fund which is currently
incurring solvency problems.
Our LMD funds
will continue to be expended only on maintenance and rehabilitation of our LMD
assets. We will keep you apprised of
upcoming community outreach meetings.
Please discuss this issue with your neighbors and give some thought to
any changes or additions to services you believe would be beneficial and be
prepared to bring them up at future outreach meetings.
This is one area
where citizens input can make a difference to what happens right here in our
community. Many Vallejo citizens have recently demonstrated a
new spirit of involvement in issues that directly affect them at numerous
levels of City government.
By participating in this initiative, we
can all help to keep Glen Cove
clean, safe and beautiful!
