Hiking along the Glen Cove Waterfront

Glen Cove is a great place. Sunny weather, bay breezes, proximity to San Francisco, the wine country, the coast, and the Sierra.

But did you know that a great outdoor experience is right outside your door?

Read on and learn about the scenic hiking trails along the Glen Cove waterfront...

Taking a walk is one of the easiest, yet most healthy things you can do. Relaxing in a quiet place with a view is another good way to recharge.

You can do either along the Glen Cove waterfront. From the Carquinez Bridge all the way into Benicia State Park and beyond, you can walk for short distances or miles along the scenic Carquinez Strait. There are trails and interesting sights all along our waterfront.

The hiking areas are shown on the map (click for larger map) by the dotted lines. It's easiest to describe the waterfront in 3 color-coded parts, though they're all connected.

Take a short photo journey along each of these hikes by clicking on them (below). For those with slower internet connections, it may take a minute or two for all the pictures to load.

BLUE: South Regatta Drive gate into Benicia State Park

YELLOW: Glen Cove Waterfront Park

GREEN: Glen Cove Marina to Carquinez Bridge

Please be careful when you hike along the waterfront, and understand that this is just a rough sketch of the trail locations. You'll see how it's laid out as you explore it, and that's part of the fun. Also remember that it's always a good idea to hike with at least one other person. And please be respectful of the land. Don't leave trash or pet-waste behind. Be mindful of the fire danger in the dry months. Take care of this place and enjoy it.

You'll notice on the map that getting from the yellow section (waterfront park) to the green section (marina) requires a brief excursion onto neighborhood streets. This is the safe way to go. A treacherous steep slope makes that one stretch of waterfront not advisable.
