Are there rules about trash can storage?
Yes, all development CC&R's require that trash be stored in an area not visible from the street or neighboring properties. This is also a City Ordinance.

I'm planning on painting my house. Do I need to get approval?
Most development CC&R's require that you obtain approval from the Architectural Review Committee in your development if you plan to paint your house any color other than the original color the house was painted when it was new. Generally, most muted or earth tones similar to the colors used during the building phase of Glen Cove will be approved, but you must go through the approval process when changing existing colors or structures. Always get approval before you begin work!

I don't see many signs around Glen Cove. Is there a reason for that?
Yes. One of the things residents enjoy about Glen Cove is the unobstructed greenery and lack of advertising in our neighborhoods. Most CC&R's have tight restrictions on all types of signs. For example, signs (like political signs) are not allowed to be posted in front yards. Temporary signs (like home for sale or garage sale signs) are OK on a temporary basis and have a size restriction.

I want to expand my driveway. Can I add more pavement in my front yard?
Vallejo City code and many development CC&R's require that your front yard be at least 50% vegetation. If you have any questions regarding adding pavement, rocks or other inorganic material to your front yard please contact your development representative and ask for an architectural review of your plans.

Can I convert my garage into a living space?
No. All development CC&R's prohibit converting a garage into a temporary or permanent living space.

I'm plannings on making some home improvements. Do I need approval?
Most development CC&R's require that you obtain approval from your architectural review committee before making any changes that involve a different material or color than your home was equipped with when new. Home additions and color changes require approval before work begins. Replacing siding, roof materials or fencing with identical materials will likely not require approval. However, if there is any doubt you should contact your development Representative before work begins.

Can I store my boat, RV or trailer in my driveway or on the street?
In some cases, parking on the street is illegal. Most developments within Glen Cove regulate the types of vehicles allowed to be parked in the neighborhood. The parking of boats, trailers, and disabled vehicles is not allowed at any time. These vehicles are only allowed to be stored out of sight from the street and neighbors.

I am often disturbed by my neighbor's loud music. Are they allowed to do that?
In short, No. Most development CC&R's have a nuisance ordinance which covers behavior that causes disturbance or annoyance to neighbors. If your neighbor is creating a disturbance we recommend having a talk with them. If that doesn't clear things up you might want to call the Vallejo Police Department for information on enforcement of disturbing the peace laws.
